We Care Food Pantry

The We Care Food Pantry is part of the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank system and is strongly supported by many local organizations and churches. It has served the Baden, Conway and Economy area since the early 1980's. Food distributions are made on the third Monday and Tuesday evenings of each month by appointment. Income limitations apply. One-time emergency food is also available. Please call the church office if we can help you. 724-242-0204.

The We Care Food Pantry helped many families in recent weeks with their groceries during the COVID-19 crisis. With great care and many precautions, the clients and volunteers were kept to zero to minimal amount of contact.

Your donations of any dry goods are always appreciated, but these items are always in need:

Mission Trips and Service

Several times each year BUMC takes a group to Eastbrook Mission Barn to help them prepare disaster relief buckets or handicap ramps for those in need. From time to time, BUMC has made trip to other locations in or out of state to help with disaster relief or to meet compassionate needs. View photos from Red Bird Mission Trip here!

Baden UMC also seeks to providing and collecting items for UMCOR hygiene kits to help meet personal needs for disaster victims. Here is a list of items needed if you would like to participate.

Baden United Methodist Church has made a commitment to the Salvation Army of Beaver Falls to help serve dinner on the third Sunday of each month. The group leaves the church by 1:45 p.m. and returns around 4:00 p.m. If you would like to contribute to dessert, donations of cookies are always welcomed.

Busy Bees

The Busy Bees are an active group of ladies that have touched the lives of thousands of people over the last several decades. In recent years the Bees have focused on making handcrafted lap blankets which are given to individuals, assisted living homes, hospitals and pregnancy centers. The group has given away more than 1000 blankets in the past two years! The ladies meet in the Fellowship Hall from 9:00 AM to noon on Thursdays from September through May (weather permitting). If you'd like to help they'd love to have you!

Men's Small Group

A few good men gather on Thursday mornings at 10 AM to have focused spiritual conversation. We ask three questions: How are you being blessed? How are you being challenged? How can we pray for you? If you're an adult man you are welcome.

Clothing for the Homeless

The members of Baden United Methodist Church are continually collecting new and gently used seasonally-appropriate clothing, shoes and toiletries for to those who find themselves without shelter. Collected items are shared with the Salvation Army in Beaver Falls, North Side and Hot Metal Bridge Ministries in Pittsburgh. Some items that are always needed are: Clothing (appropriate to the season), insulated lunch bags, shoes, socks, soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, and lotion.

Summer Lunch Program

Baden United Methodist Church is the local feeding center for the government's Summer Lunch Program. Every summer weekday while public schools are not in session any child under 18 is welcome to receive a free hot lunch. Lunches are served from noon to 1 PM. Children age 5 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adult volunteers are welcome to help; however, background clearances and some food-handling training is required. Call the church office for more information.

Bible studies and discussion groups run from September to May. Some of the classes focus on the Scripture passage presented on Sunday and other focus on other biblical topics. Each are taught by excellent lay teachers. All small groups are open for new participants. See the calendar or the weekly church bulletin for the latest information.
