Dear Members and Friends of Baden United Methodist Church:

Because of the resurrection, Christian churches around the world will be filled with people, with the sight and smell of Easter flowers, majestic hymns and stirring anthems.

Because of the resurrection, deep-seated unique feelings of joy, peace and love will flood many lives.

Because our Lord Jesus burst the bonds of death and rose victorious from the tomb more than two thousand years ago, the yearly celebration of Easter always seems to brings these feelings and sights into our lives.

Every year, from the Easters when we were young and gathering Easter eggs and looking for baskets while still in our pajamasto the Easters when we were a bit older and wore our first suit coat or special jewelry, to the Easters when we sat in a pew together with our own children, every year these same feelings seem to be unleashed in our lives.

Yet as Paul points out in Colossians 3 the resurrection of Christ can have an effect on lives every day!

Usually at Easter we think of what the resurrection meant to Mary, the disciples, and to the other followers of Christ. But it is also appropriate to think about what the resurrection means to you and me.

Paul pens, "You have been raised with Christ." That means you and I also participate in the resurrected life. Because of the resurrection, our life is also transformed. What is more, because of our participation in the resurrection, our daily life can be transformed from those things that enslave and drag us downward.

Consider for a moment all the forces of evil that tried to win a victory on Golgotha with a hammer, some nails and cruel tree. But the power of God was unleashed and Christ broke through with a victory over the grave in Joseph's garden. And that same power, which took Christ out of the grave, is available to you and me.

Because of the resurrection, life does not end. Because of the resurrection, not even death can separate us from the love of Christ, and from living some day in the presence of the glorified Christ.

Grace, Hope, and Joy!
